Daniel Light /partner

Daniel’s practice focuses on transactions which have a dominant technology component, especially as relating to intellectual property originating in academia.

Prior to co-founding Cohen, Light, Ziv & Associates, Daniel served for several years as legal counsel at Yeda R&D Co., the Weizmann Institute of Science’s commercial arm. While at Yeda, Daniel worked extensively on in/out licensing, collaboration, research, inter-institutional and clinical trial agreements, and was fortunate enough to lead transactions relating to a broad range of scientific discovery – cancer diagnosis and treatment, digital heath, gene editing, plant genetics, microbiome, machine learning, MRI and beyond. Daniel began his career at S. Horowitz & Co., one of Israel’s leading law firms, where he focused on intellectual property-related transactions, inheritance and estate matters such as execution and probation of wills (including halachic wills), hi-tech and private equity fund formation.

Daniel graduated from McGill University with a Bachelor’s degree in finance and mathematics, and he holds an LL.B. from the Hebrew University. He has also received rabbinical ordination from the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, and in his free time, he is working on a book that examines common themes in the Analects of Confucius and Pirkei Avot (Ethics of our Fathers).
