Cannabis, no longer a taboo subject in academic circles, is now being recognized as virgin and potentially highly profitable territory for multi-indication medical research. Universities and hospitals in Israel are now focusing their attention on the study of cannabis in the treatment of epilepsy, Crohn’s, autism, cancer and a multitude of other illnesses and diseases.
To wit, the Hebrew University, the birthplace of medical cannabis, recently launched its own dedicated cannabis research center (http://cannabinoids.huji.ac.il/). Research centers such as this one offer companies and investors from around the world the opportunity to access and license cannabis technology in the fields of agriculture, genetics, pharmaceuticals, delivery systems and more and reinforce Israel’s status as the world leader in cannabis research and innovation.
